T

These pictures were taken when we were still deciding whether or not to buy the farm, back in December, 2013.  It was winter and nothing much was growing, but we could see the potential and it was beautiful!

We were out at the farm today, and it is splendid in its spring green!  The hay is growing and Pat has planted her potatoes in the vegetable patch.  We bought a mower from Paul and are now ready to mow the lawn!  The next purchase (or rental) will be a tractor to aerate the soil and plant Sudex to prepare for the vines in 2016.

We saw a snapping turtle, and were told that there are blue gill and bass in the pond.  When the algae increases and the water gets murky, we need to add a couple of bales of barley hay to clear the water.  The previous owner said that 40 odd years he shot a large snapping turtle that his wife's uncle made into soup.  We are not planning to try this.

We stopped at Linganore on the way home, to add to our tour of the wineries and breweries in the area.  It was a beautiful day to sit on their deck and sip sangria and eat local cheese.

This is the tractor we bought.  A farm is such a good excuse for buying new toys!!!
